2009 Volunteer Management Training Summit
September 22 – 24, 2009
Saratoga Hilton
Saratoga Springs, New York
Summary of the Training
The New York State Office of National and Community Service conducted training for
representatives from more 50 non-profit organizations from the Saratoga region who
engage volunteers to achieve their mission. Course content is designed to provide
volunteer managers with resources and technical assistance to more effectively recruit,
train, manage, and retain volunteers. Last September, Governor David A. Paterson
announced the creation of New Yorkers Volunteer, a statewide campaign calling upon
all New Yorkers to participate in our state’s recovery and renewal through service.
To accommodate the increased number of volunteers this initiative will generate,
the Office of National & Community Service has been allocated State resources to
develop capacity and collaboration among non-profit organizations. This Regional
Volunteer Summit is made possible by funding from the Corporation for National and
Community Service. It is projected that similar training events will be delivered
throughout the state in 2010 by Regional Volunteer Centers which provide valuable
support to the State’s service initiatives.
Below you will find the PowerPoint presentations and presenter materials. If you
have questions relative to the training, please contact your program administrator
at New Yorkers Volunteer.
